I LOVE Peppermint. It’s my favourite flavour of ice-cream (choc mint please!). I love it as a biscuit (Arnott’s Mint Slice anyone?), and my childhood memories are filled with those wafer thin “Entertain-mints” I think they were called. My parents had them with coffee when they entertained clients for dinner at their house (a common feature of our weekends in the 1980’s).
So today, I thought I’d share with you a little about how peppermint essential oil is created, and more importantly what you can do with it! It’s one of the most versatile oils you can have.
Emotional benefits of Peppermint:
“Peppermint brings joy and buoyancy too the heart and soul. It invigorates body, mind and spirit and reminds individuals that life can be happy and there is nothing to fear. It lifts the individual out of their emotional trials for a short reprieve. When an individual uses Peppermint, they feel as though they’re gliding through life. It assists in staying on the surface of emotional issues, like a water skier on a lake”.
“The power of Peppermint can be felt most in times of discouragement or depression. When the individual is disheartened, they may use Peppermint to discover the joy of being alive”. Source: Emotions & Essential oils by enlighten.

“Spiders and ants do not like the smell of Peppermint oil… Put some in a spray bottle with water, and spray in areas you don’t want ants and insects to live inside your house.”
How to use Peppermint Essential Oil
The peppermint plant is a hybrid of watermint and spearmint and was first described by Carl Linneaus in 1753. A high menthol content—like that found in the doTERRA Peppermint essential oil—distinguishes the best quality Peppermint from other products. Frequently used in toothpaste and chewing gum for oral hygiene, Peppermint also helps alleviate occasional stomach upset and promotes healthy respiratory function.* Peppermint continues to be one of the best-selling favorites among doTERRA essential oils.
Use a drop of Peppermint with Lemon in water for a healthy, refreshing mouth rinse.
Take one to two drops in a Veggie Capsule to alleviate occasional stomach upset.*
Add two to three drops to your favourite smoothie recipe for a refreshing twist.
Place one drop in palm of hand with one drop Wild Orange and one drop Frankincense and inhale for a mid-day pick-me-up.
Use topically for nausea and digestion issues (perfect for those facing end of life discomfort).
Use topically to reduce body temperature.
