Poetry as an expression of Desire
When I applied to contribute to Soulful Poems, Nature and Nurture, I was unsure of what I would write. But inspiration soon came and I wrote a whole selection of nature based poems, all which felt as though they were inspired by the divination of nature.
The poems to me, were all about the characters who were portrayed within them- like an insight into their daily lives.
They lived in my mind as a complete scene and were download pictorially in my mind as I wrote them on the notes app in my phone.

I selected three of my poems to include in the anthology, and was invited to read them aloud on the Soulful Valley Podcast.

Each poem carries a completely different energy.
Wet stems from my many hours spent gazing at flowers and taking photographs of the light reflecting from the trees, the breeze and the birds and animals who sit on the leaves, the bark and the petals.
The poem reminds me, that each aspect of nature contains sentience and a form of consciousness which belongs to the animal kingdom.
I believe they all have personalities, and characteristics akin to how we see them developed in children's storybooks.
What was fascinating to me was that I did not sit down with the intention to write the poems. Nor did I map out a narrative or a stylistic framework within which to hold or host the poem.
I simply felt an urge and then the imagery appeared fully developed with words in my third eye, as if the characters of the poems were telling me a story that they wished to share.
