Have you always dreamed of becoming a published poet or Author?
When I was a little girl, I wrote lots of poems and stories in class. I dreamed of writing my own book.
My first attempt came after a Great Wall of China Trek in 2020 where I learned the stories of the participants who were there raising funds for Breast Cancer Research. Some were survivors and some lost loved ones. I was touched by a remembrance and honouring ceremony that we had at the conclusion of our trek, where we lit tea light candles and placed them around the hotel pool.
Each candle represented a life lost to cancer.
Each candle was not a statistic but a loved friend, partner, mother, father, brother, sister of a trek participant.
I came home and set about trying to write about my trekking experience and what I learned, but the words would not form. I couldn't find a lived experience that connected me to the trek legacy- despite my own extended family members having died from cancer.
Later my father died after a short but agonising battle with Prostate Cancer, and I spent 3 years writing a non-fiction book to try and get over his death and to explain my anger at the system that makes it so hard to legally put my father to rest. In the end, the book did not get representation, and it was for the best.
My first Published Chapter in a book
My first actual official book was published through Soulful Valley Publishing. I was not the sole author, I was a contributing author in the book collaboration, which meant that I wrote a chapter.
The book was called "Entangled No More", and as I preferred writing non-fiction, I wrote through the lens of my professional vocation at the time- Past Life Regression.

Launch Day! Entangled No More
Launch day was fun for me because I was able to be on Zoom live with the Publisher Katie Carey. We talked about the book, I talked about my writing story and shared some of my childhood poetry.
Launch Day Results: Amazon Best Seller and Amazon International Best Seller
Not only was I now a published author, but we quickly became Best Sellers in Australia and then as the book went on sale in other locations, I became an international best selling author! This was something I could have never imagined! We were given screen shots to "prove" our best selling status, as Amazon creates this rank based on daily sales and it updates frequently! At the end of the book launch we were given a launch report so that we had something to tangibly explain how the book had sold.
As this book was not a "profit" initiative, the profits from the launch went to Katie's nominated charity. The remainder of the sales went to cover the publishing costs and marketing costs.

- Pre-launch marketing graphics for social media
