Trouble Sleeping?

Did you have a rough night's sleep last night?

You're not alone.

Two-thirds (66%) of Australian adults report at least one sleep problem, and nearly half (48%) report two or more sleep-related problems.5  I'm sure wherever you live, the statistics are the same. We are connected by our common human nature, no matter the country.

Going through a divorce?

  • Divorce is a major life stressor that can trigger or exacerbate anxiety and depression, both of which are strongly linked to insomnia and other sleep disturbances.
  • The emotional turmoil from separation, including feelings of loss, uncertainty, and adjustment to new routines, can lead to hyperarousal—a state that interferes with the ability to fall asleep and maintain restful sleep.
  • Financial strain and parenting challenges post-divorce further contribute to chronic stress, which is a key factor in stress-related insomnia
  • Research consistently shows that individuals undergoing divorce experience higher rates of sleep problems, including difficulty initiating sleep, frequent awakenings, and non-restorative sleep.
  • The increased divorce enquiries and separations following stressful periods such as holidays highlight how relationship breakdowns coincide with heightened emotional distress and sleep disruption6.

Sleep matters

Don't ignore your sleep!

Poor sleep is not something that you should accept! Without scaring you, and making things worse, sleep deprivation can impact:

  • Cortisol levels, decreasing your metabolism and affecting your ability to lose weight! (ugh even worse in perimenopause and menopause)
  • We all know sleep is linked to mood and cognitive function! It's hard to be upbeat and tackle the daily grind of life and all of our responsibilities when we feel tired and cranky!
  • According to a study in 2016  by Wilkins the length and quality of sleep are associated with self-reported life satisfaction!
  • Getting too much or too little sleep is associated with an increased risk of several conditions, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease, and stroke! Read the report.
  • No one needs to tell you that work is linked with sleep problems- hello stress, but studies also show that for each extra hour of paid work that you do beyond 30 hours a week, it is associated with a reduction in sleep duration! So much for the 40 hour work week!
  • And obviously if you are unemployed, the odds of poor sleep quality come in almost twice as high! (Metse & Bowman 2020)

 why trust

Katische Haberfield?

I know what it is like to both sleep soundly and to struggle with sleep. I even know what it's like to be afraid of the dark and the things that go bump in the night (since childhood).

I have struggled with sleep paralysis from entity interference, and also from the condition where you have trouble reintegrating back into your waking state when your alarm goes off in the middle of a deep sleep cycle!

I was a LARK (and owl) as a teenager and loved to stay up late, but as soon as my first child was born, hello up at 5am and it's never changed!

As a divorcee, I know how new life situations and self employment can lead you to toss and turn before going to bed and to wake up in the middle of the night thinking Oh GOD- is it only 1am!

I also know what it is like to have my spirit team tap me on the shoulder at 3am and say wakey wakey!

My trusted partner for essential oils and supplements is doTERRA due to the purity of the product. I have spent a lot of time studying and using Essential Oils. I have created a recommended kit that you can purchase and have delivered to your home.

  • It includes a number of oils, a diffuser for the bedroom or the loungeroom, two calming essential oil infused soaps for the shower or bath and a stick to rub on your feet, your tummy and behind your ears that all help create a healthy sleep routine. There's also fractionated coconut oil if you would like to give your partner or child a nice relaxing massage with their favourite sleepytime oil, before bed.
  • You can click on each product in the shopping cart to receive an explanation of how to use it, the ingredients and the benefits for a good night's sleep.

What's the best way to approach this?

Clinical Hypnotherapy for Sleep

If you'd like some additional support with your sleep, I offer Clinical Hypnotherapy sessions which are specialised for this area.

This is not suitable for medically diagnosed sleep disorders and we do not treat sleep apnoea. Please see your GP or Medical Practitioner for assistance with these matters.

Katische helps with:

  • Difficulty going to sleep or staying asleep.
  • Nightmares or unsettling, reoccurring or confusing dreams.
  • Excess thoughts or emotions before or during sleep.

We use the following process:

  1. Complete the Clinical Hypnotherapy Intake Sleep Form (compulsory) This form helps me understand your sleep issues deeply and identify the key factors holding you back from blissful slumber.
  2. Complete the Sleep Plan (and email to me before your intake call). This gives you guidance on how to improve your sleep and a sleep diary. We will be continually referring to this during our sessions to monitor your progress.
  3. Katische will email you after she has read both documents and determine if you are eligible for a sleep intake call, and in this email will be the link to book the call and make the payment. It's important that you understand this is a partnership 🙂

Where are sessions conducted?

I attended Katische’s sleep seminar a few weeks ago, as I was interested in finding new ways to improve my child’s restless sleep patterns.

I found the session incredibly interesting and informative and would highly recommend it to anyone who is experiencing similar issues.

I’ve put a few of Katische’s recommendations into practise and found these tips highly effective.

Thanks Katische!
